This Workshop is designed to help develop ones understanding and interpretation of the Tarot. I will be the Instructor and Moderator of this Workshop.

One by one we will go through the cards of the Tarot and develop our understanding and impressions of the cards, with a focus on Intuition. I will post the Name and a few images of the Tarot card we will be discussing, and you will respond with your INTUITIVE impressions of the cards, based on NAME, IMAGERY, and INTUITIVE IMPRESSION.

After you have been given time to respond, and before moving on to the next card, I will post the actual keywords of the card.

All keywords of copyrights of Jas DelaLuna,

Ps. Participants might find it useful to journal about what they learn about each tarot card in their Divinus Journals

Hummm, its kind of hard due to the fact that since the card already says at the bottom The Fool most likely it'll mean maybe be careful with others or choices you make ?
Ahhh idk =/..

Good first guess, Eddie. Try to see beyond what the words The Fool stand for. What is the man doing? Does he appear old or young? What of the dog? The scenery? I'll put in my thoughts after more people put in their opinion. :p

Love and Light,

Blessed Be.

Because when i see the card i feel free like i can breath you know ? && im really unsure about the dog but could the dog maybe symbolize help from a friend ?

is indeed a card of new beginnings. You got that right on the dot Very Happy White is a color that stands for purity and spirituality :] How about the cliff? He seems to not notice the fact that he's about to walk off the cliff. His loyal dog continues to follow him, despite their predicament. What could that resemble?

You are doing very well Eddie. Its okay if you noticed new things each time Manny asked you, the cards have a way of revealing themselves to use overtime. Also, I want to remind everyone that they can use any image of any of these Tarot cards to draw your response, they don't have to be Rider-Waite Images.

Now that you've completed the first one with some help, lets try the next one on your own, okay? Somethings to remember to look for are:

-"What is the number associated with the card? What does that tell me?" (Number is Usually displayed).
-"What are some of the symbols displayed on the card? What could they symbolize?"
-"Are their people in the card? How many? What are they doing? What does it mean?"
-"What re some of the major colors used in the card?"
-"What thoughts or emotions are evoked in me when I view the card? What does that say about the cards meaning?"

Remember, try this next one on your own and Remember to check back here for the keywords to the Fool, which I will post after I give the others a chance. Then we will progress to the next card Smile

0. The Fool

  • Keywords: Innocence, childlike faith and trust, new beginning, beginning of a journey, fresh starts, potential, optimism.

  • Reversed: Foolishness, reckless/impulsive action, danger of blind faith, inexperience, fear of the unknown.

  • Primary Correspondence: Air

  • Element: Air

  • Astrology: Uranus

  • Numerology:0. From Zero comes Nothingness and therefore potential for all things. Zero is unbounded and unrestricted. It represents that which exists outside of the physical. It is the essence of the Divine Source. Zero exists free from the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

  • People: Children, innocents, mystics, dreamers, visionaries, adventurers, and travelers.

  • Traditional Key Symbols:The sun, the white flower in his left hand, the stick and sack in his right hand, the dog, and the cliff.

Tarot Worskshop Major-arcana-00thefool

Kabbalah

  • Kabbalistic Hebrew Letter: Aleph (Ox)

  • Path: Kether (Crown) to Chokmah (Wisdom). The path of Fiery Intelligence. Some attributes of this path are “Breath of Life” and “Spirit”.

Tarot Worskshop Treeoflife

  • The Fool’s Journey: At the very onset of the journey to ascension (as I strongly believe the Fool’s Journey to be one of ascending to the Divine Source), the Fool is like an infant. He lives without understanding or experience of the world and its trials. However, he also lives without the fear of consequence, and in this we see the paradox of his childlike wisdom. Alone, with no other human companion, he sets of into the unknown with the eagerness of youth and the faith of one who knows little of fear. He is not alone, however. He is connected to all life and all ages, as he is every man. Also, he is accompanied by his spiritual guides, often represented by a dog when the card is depicted.

  • Intuitive Description Example: Using the Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. In this deck, the Fool is represented by a young woman with long warm colored light hair, a strawberry blonde you could say, dressed in a flowing white cloth. When we go beyond the apparent physical description of the card, we enter the realm of the subconscious. Here we can process things that our conscious mind struggles with, such as colors, symbols, and collective correspondence. For example, open arms of the Fool in this card represent openness, love for all life and an eagerness to experience it. There is also an implication of trusting the world as a whole. Her white cloth represents her purity and innocence, which contrasts slightly with the highlights of red in her hair, which represents unrealized desire. Birds surround her and tug lovingly on her garments. Here we can feel something comparative to the innocence experienced by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Only with that true purity can one commune and live in sync with animals and all other life as depicted in the card. Light shades of violet fill the card and exude divine energy, which the Fool innately possesses. She stands at the edge of her high platform, on the tips of her toes. We can feel her faith here and her trust that she is divinely protected and guided, whether she is aware of that trust or the profundity of that trust or not.

Inter-card Relationships:

Reinforcing Cards: The Hanged Man, The Star, Judgment, and Three of Wands.
Opposing Cards: The Hierophant, Death, The Devil, Two of Swords, and Four of Pentacles.
Elemental Relationships: The Magician, The Lovers, Justice, The Star, and all the Swords of the Minor Arcana.

Okay as promised, I gave people time to give their impressions and response to The Fool, so here is the rough-draft chapter "The Fool" from the book I am writing on The tarot. This information IS copyrighted by me (theres even a logo at the bottom of the page.)

Read the whole thing and maybe compare the impressions you got to the traditional meaning. So, while you guys read the information on the Fool, I am going to get ready for posting the next card.

Keep up the good work Eddie!!

Tarot Worskshop Empty Magician

The Magician to me represents mystic desire. Definitely a male energy in this card and I don't fret when it comes up in my reading. I feel like it brings new trials in my life buried behind somewhat weak or foolish desires in my subconscious. Hopefully I'm at least somewhat close!

Thanks for your participation Kylie :] I will post a complete break down of the magician soon, as I did with the Fool earlier in this thread.

I do want to make one quick comment though, I find it very very interesting that some of your meanings line up with original meanings of the magician card from hundreds of years ago that are no longer used by most Tarot Readers. Hmmm... thats fascinating to me.

I'm relieved to hear that! I know you don't have to be dead on with these meanings, or even "close", but I had a good feeling about that one. This card must have been persistent, maybe pesky even, to an older version of my soul.

I. The Magician

Keywords: Focused energy, creative action, power, strong will, knowledge, special skill, confidence, possibility.
Reversed: Blockage in creativity, energy, and/ or drive; weak will, trickster, meddlesome, manipulator

Primary Correspondence: Mercury
Element: Air
Astrology: Mercury
Kabbalistic Hebrew Letter: Beth (House)
Path: Kether (Crown) to Binah (Understanding). The path of Intelligence of Transparency. Some attributes associated with this path are “Attention”, “Life”, and “Death”.

Tarot Worskshop Treeoflife

Numerology: 1. One can be seen as the self, or rather as the individual. It is the action that initiates the course to come. One is a number of independence, loneliness, and self reliance. One often represents positivity. One always represents originality.

People: Children, son/brother archetypes, magicians, alchemists, applied scientists, medical specialists, neurosurgeons, artisans, artists, writers, engineers, inventors, teachers, guides, linguists, and politicians.

Traditional Key Symbols: The worktable/altar, the pentacle, the cup, the wand, the swords, the scepter held in the magician’s right hand, the index finger of the left hand pointing downward, and the lemniscates.

Tarot Worskshop Magician

The Fool’s Journey: The first Master the Fool meets on his journey is the Magician. The Magician holds all the tools of the four suits: cups, pentacles, swords, and wands. The Fool must learn as the Magician’s apprentice to learn how to use these four tools as he progresses through his path of ascension. However, it is not enough to know how to use the tools, the Fool must make active use of them if he wishes to manifest and experience his desires on his plane. The Magician teaches the fool to master his skills and prepares him for whatever situation might require him to channel energy constructively. So the two main ides the Magician bestows upon the Fool are “active consciousness” and “mastery of skill”, as well as “directed energy” (on a conscious level).

Intuitive Description Example: Using the Deviant Moon Tarot by Patrick Valenza. What subconscious messages are hidden in the Magician? Well, in the Deviant Moon depiction we see a (literally) white skinned man with four arms dressed in all blue garments. The four arms of the Magician are a clear reference to the energies of skill, work, and activity associated with the card in most decks. Every arm has a task, every hand holds a tool. Here we see that there is little room for inactivity in the life of the Magician. In his hands he holds the four tools of the tarot suits. In his top two hands are the wand and pentacle, the keys to the creative spirit and material stability. In his lower hands, he holds the sword and the chalice, symbols of intellectual conflict and emotional wellbeing. This suggests the importance of attaining stability in your heart and mind in order to flourish and succeed creatively and materialistically. Remember, our outer circumstances are determined by our own inner thoughts and energies.

Inter-card Relationships:
• Reinforcing Cards: The Chariot, Two of Wands, Eight of Wands, and Eight of Pentacles.
• Opposing Cards: The High Priestess, The Hanged Man, Seven of Cups, Four of Swords, and Eight of Swords.
• Elemental Relationships: The Fool, The Lovers, Justice, The Star, and all the Swords of the Minor Arcana.

*NOTE: This is my original work to which I hold the copyright. Nothing may be taken or used without my permission.

**Side-Note: This article goes into depth and may describe some aspects of the Tarot that beginners don't understand (example: Kabbalistic letter, and Path). Just ask if you'd like anything explained

Tarot Worskshop Empty High Priestess

Post  witchx Wed Nov 16, 2011 12:12 am

The High Priestess is definitely a feminine energy. I believe its based on certain intuitions and secretive behavior. I think when this card comes up it implies that you should go with your gut instincts on your situation. It is a positive card and I believe that the card shows/represents faith in the beholder's intentions and motives.

II. The High Priestess

Keywords: Inner-mastery, intuition, hidden energies and influences, subconscious, esoteric or occult expertise, virginity, spiritual enlightenment.
Reversed: emotional instability, lack or misuse of intuition, a woman is acting as a negative influence, negativity.
Primary Correspondence: Luna
Element: Water
Astrology: Luna
Kabbalistic Hebrew Letter: Gimmel (Camel)
Path: Kether (Crown) to Tiphareth (Beauty). The path of Uniting Intelligence. Some attribute associated with this path are “Memory”, “Peace”, and “Strife”.

Tarot Worskshop Treeoflife

Numerology: 2. Two is harmony, unity, or sometimes an impasse. Two can represent relationships of many varying kinds. Two is also Duality, a major esoteric principal governing the Universe. Two can often represent desire.

People: A daughter or sister, a virgin, a single woman or person, a skilled person, a devout follower, a psychic, an intuitive, a psychologist, a counselor, or an otherwise sensitive individual.

Traditional Key Symbols: The black and white pillars (from left to right and often referred to as Boaz and Jachin), the moon at her feet, the equal-armed cross on her chest, the Torah in her hands, pomegranate cloth, and the triple moon she wears as a crown.

Tarot Worskshop Maj02s

The Fool’s Journey: As the fool moves onward from the Magician’s dwellings, fully equipped with the tools of manifesting consciousness, he enters a new, strange land. There he encounters the High Priestess. She sits on a large throne between two thick pillars that stretch endlessly into the sky, appearing solemn and dignified. Although, she appeared quite young to be behaving as she did, or rather appearing as she did. The High Priestess explains briefly to the Fool that her lessons can’t be taught in a traditional sense. When the Fool inquires as to how he might receive her wisdom, she responds with a deafening silence; a silence encompassing both the Fool and the land surrounding him. He sits at the feet of her throne, deciding not to break the silence. With no oral instruction to rely on, he is forced to look inward for guidance, not realizing that is half the lesson in itself. As he reflects on his inward-self, he learns to meditate and to hear his inner voice. He now trusts his intuition. These are the gifts of the High Priestess.

Intuitive Description Example: Using the Animals Divine Tarot by Lisa Hunt. In this highly intuitive deck, the High Priestess is represented by the Egyptian Goddess Bast. From her ears, which are the ears of a cat, hang two gold earrings. This can be seen as representing the emphasis on the importance of listening to your Inner Voice, and valuing listening over speaking (as her mouth is closed). On the center of the High Priestess’ head is a golden, egg shaped jewel. It sits symbolically on her third eye, symbolizing intuition and divine sight. She holds, suspended between her hands, a golden swirl spiral of divine light. This can be seen to represent the Divine Source that each of us are connected to by Spirit. The spiral is infinity, the eternal light of life. Her left hand is covered as if to hide it. This could be seen as a metaphor for learning esoteric knowledge, or the subconscious mind.
Inter-card Relationships:
• Reinforcing Cards: The Hermit, The Hanged Man, and Four of Swords.
• Opposing Cards: The Magician, Two of Wands, Seven of Wands, Eight of Wands.
• Elemental Relationships: The Chariot, The Hanged Man, Death, The Moon, Judgment, and the Cups of the Minor Arcana.
